Stamp a word, phrase, or logo across some or all pages of a PDF, entirely inside the browser tab - nothing is uploaded. Type the watermark text or upload an image, then set its position, rotation angle, opacity, size, and color before it's applied to the chosen page range. The output is a new PDF where the mark sits on top of the existing content on every selected page. What catches people off guard: the watermark becomes part of the page itself, so it can't later be toggled off or edited from within a PDF viewer - if you need an unmarked copy, keep the original file.

Worked example

Input
Watermark text: "CONFIDENTIAL" | Pages: All | Position: Center, tiled | Rotation: 45 degrees | Opacity: 30% | Font size: 40pt | Color: gray | Applied to a 4-page PDF
Output
A 4-page PDF, same page count and page sizes as the original, where every page now shows the word "CONFIDENTIAL" repeated diagonally across it at 45 degrees, in gray 40pt text at 30% opacity, layered on top of that page's original content.
Why
Because "All" pages and tiled placement were selected, the same text, angle, opacity, and size are repeated identically on each of the 4 pages; the original content, page count, and page dimensions are unchanged.

How it works

Watermark source and appearance
You supply either typed text or an uploaded image (PNG or JPG) as the mark. For text you choose font size, color, opacity, and rotation angle; for an image you set its scale, opacity, and rotation instead. These settings apply uniformly to every page the watermark reaches in a single pass - there's no per-page customization within one run.
Placement and page range
A position control anchors the mark - centered, tiled in a repeating grid, or pinned to a corner - and a page range field restricts it to specific pages, such as all pages or a custom range, rather than the whole document. The tool then produces a new PDF with the watermark layered onto each selected page, leaving unselected pages untouched.

When to use it

  • Marking a draft contract or report "DRAFT" before circulating it for internal review, so nobody mistakes it for the final version
  • Adding a company name or logo across the pages of an internal document before sharing it with an outside partner or contractor
  • Stamping "SAMPLE - NOT FOR DISTRIBUTION" across the pages of a preview chapter or excerpt before posting it publicly

Worth knowing

  • A watermark is purely visual - it doesn't encrypt the file or restrict copying, printing, or editing, so the underlying text can still be selected and copied unless you separately apply password protection
  • Very low opacity can make the watermark hard to see on screen while it still prints clearly on some printers, since screen and print rendering of transparency aren't identical
  • The watermark is merged into each page's visible content, so it can't be selectively stripped back out later from within a PDF viewer; a clean copy requires going back to the original un-watermarked file

Frequently asked

Can I remove a watermark once it's been added?
No, not with this tool. The watermark becomes part of the page content in the output file, so there is no toggle to strip it back out. If you might need an unmarked version later, keep a copy of the original PDF before watermarking it.
Will the watermark show up when the PDF is printed, or only on screen?
Both. Because the mark is drawn onto the page itself rather than added as a separate comment or annotation layer, it appears the same way whenever the page is displayed or printed in any standard PDF viewer.
