This tool lets you place a signature onto a PDF without printing, signing, and scanning it back in. Draw a signature with your mouse or finger, type your name and render it in a script-style font, or upload a photo of your own signature, then drag it into position on any page and resize it. Processing happens entirely in your browser, so the file never leaves your device. The detail people miss most: this produces a visual mark on the page, not a certificate-based digital signature. It looks signed, but there is no cryptographic identity proof behind it, so it won't satisfy a system that specifically requires PAdES or a PKI-issued certificate.

How it works

Three ways to create the mark
You can draw a signature by hand using mouse or touch input on a canvas, type your name and have it rendered in a preset cursive or script font, or upload an existing image of your signature, such as a phone photo or scan. Whichever method you choose becomes a small graphic that the tool treats identically for placement, resizing, and saving.
Placement and flattening
Drag the signature graphic to any position on any page, scale it to fit the signature line, and repeat it for every page that needs initials. On save, the tool draws the graphic directly into that page's own content stream rather than adding it as a separate, movable annotation, so the exported file looks identical in any PDF viewer and can't be dragged off or deleted afterward.

When to use it

  • Signing a lease, NDA, or freelance contract before emailing it back instead of printing and scanning
  • Adding initials to every page of a multi-page agreement in one pass
  • Filling out and signing a form like a permission slip or vendor W-9 without a printer or scanner

Worth knowing

  • This produces a visual signature image, not a PAdES or PKI-based digital signature - there is no certificate, no identity verification, and no cryptographic tamper-seal binding the signature to the document.
  • Once you save, the signature is flattened into the page's own content - it can no longer be selected, moved, or removed as a separate object, so fixing a misplaced signature means starting over from the original unsigned file.
  • A typed or drawn mark looks the same no matter who made it - the tool has no way to verify that the person signing is who they claim to be, so acceptance depends entirely on the receiving party's own policy.

Frequently asked

Is a signature added this way legally binding?
In the US it generally counts as a valid electronic signature under the ESIGN Act and similar state UETA laws for everyday contracts, since those laws do not require a specific technology to create a signature. It is not a substitute for cases that specifically require a certificate-based digital signature or notarization, so check with the requesting party if you are unsure.
Can I edit or move the signature after I've saved the file?
No. Once the PDF is saved, the signature is merged into the page like any other content on it. To change its position or size, or remove it, you need to reopen your original unsigned PDF and sign it again.
